Boating Adventures at St. Marks

We have made several recent boating adventures on a pontoon / deck boat at St. Marks, Florida.  During the first trip, the dolphin played nearby circling the boat and giving us a nice show.  Their body color in the water almost glows, which is really neat looking.

On one trip, we saw a manatee in the Wakulla River, a Bald Eagle on the way out to the sandbar, a stingray, a starfish, hermit crabs and dolphins!  Wow, what a day.  We snorkeled and explored a sandbar following mullet and other smaller fish, finding hermit crabs, starfish and checking for scallops (it’s not scallop season yet, but we are waiting).

What a great way to see wildlife up close. We had a blast.  I could follow fish around the sandbar for hours, and I did until my mouth was pickled from the saltwater and snorkel mouthpiece!   We finally dragged ourselves away before the kids were overtired, but no one really wanted to leave.  A perfect day!
